C&Y - Children and Youth

About us

The Children and Youth Team are part of the Housing and Community Development Service at Canterbury City Council.  We are dedicated to working with children and young people aged five to 18 years and we have been running since 2002.

staff The Children and Youth Team aims to encourage personal and social development through positive play in an 'out of school, out of home' setting.

We aim to involve children, young people and their families in the development of council services.

Street Team Street Team works with young people where they hang out. We can provide signposting for young people, telling them about our other youth projects or other activities that are available in their area.
Sat What? Say What? is Canterbury City Council's young consultants scheme. The project gives young people a chance to have their say and express their views about decisions being made in the district. Young people that express an interest in the scheme are put on a database and are invited along to participate in meetings and consultation evenings when they happen.
hot topix

Hot Topix is an annual event that the city council holds to celebrate and find out young people's views and ideas on issues that affect them. This year the conference will be around Local Democracy Week. Young people themselves get involved in planning, organising and facilitating the event , supported by our team.
